1. Who we are
LocalAI is operated by UDI, trading as LocalAI. UDI is the data controller for the personal data described here — we decide why and how it is processed. Contact: privacy@localguideai.life.
2. What we collect and why
- Account data (email address, login credentials, authentication identifiers) — to create and secure your account and sign you in. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Search and prompt data (your natural language queries, refinements, saved favorites and history, chosen or detected approximate location) — to generate results, menus and itineraries and to keep your conversation context. Legal basis: contract performance; location is used with your consent when you allow it in the browser.
- Usage and telemetry (searches consumed, credit balance, feature interactions, device and browser information, IP address) — to operate credit allowances, prevent abuse of free trials, secure the service and improve the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests and contract performance. We store a hashed form of your IP address for anonymous trial limits.
- Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Marketing preferences — only if you opt in. Legal basis: consent, withdrawable at any time.
3. Who we share data with
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting and database infrastructure, AI model providers used to generate results, Google Maps Platform for place data, email delivery and support tooling. They act on our instructions.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of our product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as legal and accounting providers, where necessary.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
4. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
5. Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months afterwards. Search history and conversation data are kept until you delete them (you can clear everything from Settings) or your account is closed. Anonymous trial records are kept for up to 30 days. Billing records are retained as long as tax law requires. After that data is deleted or anonymised.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. UK/EEA users may also complain to their supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO). Email privacy@localguideai.life and we will respond within one month.
7. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest with our infrastructure provider, row-level access controls on our database, and least-privilege access for staff and services.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme, radius and location preferences, and enforce free-trial limits. If we enable analytics or marketing cookies we will ask for your consent first, and you can change or withdraw it at any time. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings — some features will stop working if you do.
9. Children
LocalAI is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this notice; we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
